Winter 2021 Course Transfer Policy

Undergraduate winter course transfer policy for Winter 2021 ONLY

A maximum of ONE winter course may be transferred in, subject to the criteria listed below. You must submit your transfer request by December 18, 2020; please contact your class dean/advising dean for the required form.

  • Pre-approval is required. Please provide a copy of the syllabus and/or a course description in your application for approval.
  • The course must be completed before February 1, 2021.
  • Transfer credit will be awarded for a grade of "C" or above; transfer classes will count towards course/credit count, but are not factored into the GPA.
  • A course intended to count towards a major, minor, or pre-health professional track requires the approval of the department associate chair/program director or pre-professional advisor, as well as your class dean/advising dean.
  • Some core courses/requirements cannot be met through transfer courses. These include:
    • Composition I (ENGL 1101) and Composition II (ENGL 1102)
      • All Eloquentia Perfecta courses/requirements
      • Philosophy of Human Nature (PHIL 1000)
      • Philosophical Ethics (PHIL 3000)
      • Faith and Critical Reason (THEO 1000)
      • Sacred Texts and Traditions requirement
      • Exit (2001)-level modern or classical language
      • Interdisciplinary Capstone Core
      • Global Studies and American Pluralism distributive requirements
  • A course taken in the U.S. must be offered by accredited, 4-year, non-profit institutions.
  • A course taken outside of the U.S. must be offered by a 4-year institution and must be pre-approved by your academic advisor/assistant dean. Please contact your academic advisor/assistant dean for guidance. If the institution is not in Fordham University's database, academic advisors/assistant deans may require transcript validation by World Education Services for equivalency. Requests to take online lab courses outside of Fordham will be reviewed carefully by the dean’s office and the department; these requests may be denied.
