This Course will focus on American culture form an historic perspective. American religious groups; political systems; labor movement and entrepreneurship; equal opportunity; home ownership, and instant celebrity: sports, film, TV and mass media will be addressed. There will be an emphasis on developing responsive readers and listeners, fluent, organized, and clear writing and speakers, the development of critical thinking skills and an emphasis on grammatical, semantic and syntactic structure. Extracurricular cultural trips will be taken.

This course will focus on American values and assumptions, democracy in America, government vs. civil society, the American economy and current political groups and systems in America. Materials for this course are book chapters, articles, recorded lectures, and contemporary film. There will be an emphasis on correcting grammatical errors with increased ability to correct them. Extra Curricular cultural trips will be taken.
